Andrew Maiden

Andrew Maiden is a leader in strategic communications, public policy and advocacy.

He began his career as an adviser, press secretary and chief of staff to senior political figures in state and federal governments.

In the early 2000s he joined Telstra, where he oversaw the company’s international regulatory function before leading a large team responsible for group public affairs, media relations, employee communications, corporate responsibility and reputation.

In 2013 Andrew joined the media sector as chief executive of the peak body for subscription television. He worked closely with the CEOs of media companies and political figures to help deliver significant regulatory reform.

Andrew is now the director of Maiden Advisory, a consultancy that provides strategic counsel to business leaders. He works with executives and boards to navigate reputational risk, communicate clearly and engage with stakeholders. Drawing on his experience in business, politics and the media, Andrew brings a genuinely independent perspective to business problems, calmly helping leaders to test their thinking, clarify what is important and implement practical steps to achieve their objective. He has provided intelligent insights and supportive but frank advice to clients in more than a dozen sectors.

A fascination with geography, politics and history has driven Andrew to travel extensively. His experiences overseas have shaped Andrew’s perspective and found expression in work with the community sector to promote understanding between cultures.

Andrew has degrees in economics and law and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
